Şasiul "IDS" al modelului Opel Astra este conceput să asigure o comportare viratorie agilă, dar neutră, niveluri ridicate de acceleraţie laterală, un răspuns precis al direcţiei, distanţe de frânare reduse şi o îmbunătăţire a stabilităţii pe durata manevrelor din situaţii de urgenţă, pentru un nivel optim de manevrabilitate.

Tehnologia şasiului
Sistemul interactiv de conducere (IDS) dezvoltat de Opel asigură un nivel optim de siguranţă activă şi stabileşte noi standarde în materie, incluzând Sistemul de fânare anti-blocare (ABS), Sistemul de control al frânării în curbe (CBC), Sistemul logic de control la subvirare (UCL) şi sistemul de asistenţă la frânare.
Programul electronic de stabilitate (ESP®), disponibil opţional, monitorizează în permanenţă viteza roţii şi intervine controlat pe mai multe roţi în cazul în care autovehiculul pierde aderenţa în curbe, ajutând şoferul să preia din nou controlul asupra autovehiculului într-un timp mai scurt.
